A clear example of the state government’s farmer-friendly policy was witnessed today at the Chandipur Block Office premises, where a special program was organized under the SMAM (Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization) scheme by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. During the event, modern agricultural equipment was distributed to 77 farmers from the region. The initiative aims to increase productivity and promote the use of advanced technology in farming.
The chief guest at the event was the State Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy. Also present were Gouranagar Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sampa Das Pal, Vice Chairperson Binoy Singh, Chandipur Block BDO Debpriya Das, along with officials and staff from the agriculture department.
Minister Tinku Roy stated, “This farmer-centric initiative in the Gouranagar agricultural subdivision will undoubtedly help our hardworking farmers enhance their efficiency and productivity in cultivation. The inclusion of modern technology in agriculture not only promotes self-reliance but also paves the way for sustainable development.”
The minister further emphasized the government’s commitment to farmers, saying, “The development of farmers is synonymous with the development of the nation. With this perspective, the state government has been actively launching and implementing various farmer-friendly schemes.”
Chairperson Sampa Das Pal and Vice Chairperson Binoy Singh highlighted the benefits of the scheme in their speeches. They said that the use of modern equipment would allow farmers to cultivate larger areas in less time and expressed their intention to include more farmers under this scheme in the future.
The equipment distributed during the event included power tillers, pump sets, sprayers, and other modern farming tools. The farmers expressed satisfaction and gratitude after receiving the equipment, appreciating the government’s continued support.
This initiative marks another step forward in the state’s mission to empower farmers and promote technology-driven, sustainable agriculture.
