With the aim of improving the health of women and children and ensuring the overall well-being of families, a special health camp was held today, 24th September 2025, at Irani Primary Health Centre under Gournagar Block of Unakoti District. The camp was organized as part of the ‘Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign’. Present at the event were Medicine Specialist Dr. Punyakrit Debbarma, Gynecologist Dr. Chiranjib Deb, Pediatrician Dr. Sharmistha Sarkar, and In-Charge of Irani Primary Health Centre Dr. Pritam Das.
A total of 318 beneficiaries availed medical services at the camp, among whom 203 were women and 115 were men. Special activities conducted during the camp included—
- Antenatal check-up of 21 pregnant women
- Vaccination of 4 children
- Blood pressure check-up of 81 individuals, along with diabetes screening of the same group
- Tuberculosis screening of 26 individuals
In addition, counseling on non-communicable diseases and anemia was provided. At the same time, 30 PM-JAY cards and ABHA cards were generated. Free medicines were also distributed among all beneficiaries. The program was attended by health workers, ASHA workers, and local women.
At the beginning of the camp, health workers discussed in detail the objectives and significance of the project. They emphasized that a healthy mother can build a healthy child and a healthy family. Hence, it is very important not to neglect women’s health but to remain aware of their nutrition, hygiene, and regular health check-ups.
The camp also provided pregnant women with guidance on regular health check-ups, proper nutrition, and steps to take in emergencies. For children, advice was given on vaccination, breastfeeding, and ways to prevent malnutrition. The importance of personal hygiene and following proper health practices for women was also highlighted.
It is noteworthy that this ‘Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign’ will continue till 2nd October 2025. Organizers stated that the main goal of the initiative is to make every woman in remote villages health-conscious through regular organization of such health camps.
