This evening, police and paramilitary forces conducted a special drive in Kailashahar against drug abuse and illegal parking under the leadership of Kailashahar Police Station OC, Tapas Malakar.
The raid began in front of the Unakoti KalaKshetra, where several youths fled through the nearby lanes as the anti-drug operation was launched. However, police seized multiple motorbikes that had been parked illegally and took them to the station.
During one such raid, a dramatic situation unfolded when a youth engaged in a scuffle with the police over his seized bike. Eyewitnesses reported that despite efforts by the OC and paramilitary personnel to control the situation, the tension continued for quite some time. Eventually, the police managed to detain the youth and put him in the police vehicle.
It has been reported that OC Tapas Malakar and a few other police personnel sustained minor injuries in the scuffle. The detained youth and his bike are currently in police custody. Sources from the police confirmed that a suo motu case is being prepared against the youth.
On the other hand, local citizens expressed relief over the sudden police raid. Residents welcomed the strict steps taken by the police against drugs and illegal parking in the town.
