Kailashahar’s historic and century-old Manuvalley Tea Estate has now become a target of a counterfeit racket. The garden authorities have raised serious allegations that fake packets of Manuvalley Jewel Tips are being sold in the market. Prabir Dey, Assistant Manager of Manuvalley Tea Estate, stated that some dishonest traders are taking advantage of the brand’s international reputation by counterfeiting packets and circulating spurious tea leaves in the market.
It has been alleged that such fake packets of Jewel Tips are being sold particularly in some shops in Kailashahar and Dharmanagar. According to Prabir Dey, this not only deceives customers but also brings Manuvalley Tea Estate’s goodwill and credibility into question. He further informed that the garden authorities have already lodged a case with the police regarding the matter.
To make customers more aware, he said that the original Manuvalley Jewel Tips packet now carries a high-security hologram. The special hologram clearly displays the word “ORIGINAL” along with the symbol of Laxmi-Tea. Hence, buyers are advised to carefully check the hologram before purchasing the packet.
Addressing customers, Prabir Dey urged, “Manuvalley Jewel Tips has international recognition. A fraudulent network is active to tarnish our reputation. So, I request everyone—always check the hologram before buying the tea packet; that way, you will avoid being cheated.”
It is feared that if a prestigious garden like Manuvalley falls victim to such counterfeit rackets, it could cause not only business losses but also severely damage the reputation of Tripura’s tea industry.
