
India’s former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away at the age of 92. On Thursday evening, as his health deteriorated, he was admitted to AIIMS hospital in Delhi, where he breathed his last.
Born on September 26, 1932, in the Punjab province of undivided India, Dr. Singh was the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister. Renowned for his exceptional expertise in economics, he pursued his education at Cambridge and Oxford universities. As Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, he led India’s journey towards economic liberalization, a milestone in the nation’s economic reforms.
From 2004 to 2014, Dr. Singh served as Prime Minister, implementing various social and economic developmental initiatives. Under his leadership, India made significant progress on the international stage.
Dr. Singh’s demise has cast a shadow of grief over the political sphere and the entire nation. His contributions will remain an indelible part of India’s history.
