Today, a significant meeting was held at the District Superintendent of Police (SP) office in the Unakoti district headquarters, Kailasahar. The meeting was attended by the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state, IPS officer Anurag Dhankar. Also present at the meeting were Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) of the district, Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations, and senior officials from other security departments.
DIG Rati Ranjan Debnath and Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, who is in charge of North Tripura and Unakoti districts, also participated in the meeting.
Following the meeting, DGP Anurag Dhankar met with journalists in a courtesy interaction. He mentioned that although this was his first official visit to Unakoti district as DGP, he had visited the district several times in the past.
He stated, “Maintaining law and order is not the sole responsibility of the police; it is achievable only with the cooperation of the general public.” He also appealed to people from all walks of life for their support.
The DGP noted that the primary objective of his visit was to advance the Chief Minister’s vision of building a “drug-free Tripura.” He added that the meeting included detailed discussions on strategies to be implemented in the future.
He further stated, “Currently, more than 30 percent of accused individuals in our state are being convicted, which is a positive indicator.”
After concluding his visit to Unakoti, DGP Anurag Dhankar informed that he would head to Dharmanagar in North Tripura and from there visit the 13th TSR Battalion in Kanchanpur to meet with the jawans.
