To strengthen security measures along the India-Bangladesh border and enhance cooperation between the border forces of both nations, Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, Shri Ashwini Kumar Sharma, undertook a two-day border visit to the Panisagar Sector from January 11 to 12, 2025. He was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of BSF Panisagar Sector, Shri Rajeev Vatsaraj.
On the first day of his visit, IG Sharma reviewed the operations at Border Outposts (BOPs) in Kamalpur and Kailashahar. He was briefed by Battalion Commanders on the current security scenario, anti-smuggling strategies, and other security measures in the area. IG Sharma expressed satisfaction with the preparedness and vigilance of the border personnel.
At a Sainik Sammelan held at BOP Morachera in Dhalai district, IG Sharma addressed the BSF personnel and said, “Your dedication and commitment to ensuring border security are commendable. It is imperative to remain vigilant and carry out responsibilities with utmost diligence in light of the current situation.”
On the second day, he visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Manughat and emphasized the importance of joint efforts by India’s BSF and Bangladesh’s Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in enhancing border management. As a token of goodwill and friendship, he presented a fruit basket to BGB personnel.
This visit not only reinforced the security framework along the India-Bangladesh border but also added a new dimension to the relationship between the border forces of both countries. Experts believe that such cooperation is critical in maintaining peace along the border and preventing smuggling and other illegal activities.
BSF’s proactive initiatives in improving the India-Bangladesh border situation are expected to pave the way for more effective measures in the future.
