
Kailashahar,Anupam Pal:The state government of Tripura has taken a significant step towards the infrastructural development of Unakoti district by inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for a series of crucial projects. Today, on March 4, 2025, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stones for 19 new development projects and inaugurated 15 others in a single day. Accompanying him on this occasion was the Minister of Social Education and Social Welfare, Tinku Roy. These projects aim to enhance the district’s infrastructure in various sectors, including health, education, communication, sports, and social welfare.
Some of the most notable projects include:A 50-bed Drug De-Addiction Center in Chandipur to promote a drug-free society – estimated cost ₹20 crore.Construction of the Child Welfare Committee Building – ₹9.25 lakh.A new two-story building for Kailashahar Ramakrishna Educational Institution – ₹8.51 crore.An 800-seater auditorium at Kailashahar Ramakrishna College – ₹9.25 lakh.Improvement of roads connecting Bengali Basti to Depachhara, Jionbari to Borshichhara, and Borshichhara to Dhatu Chhara – ₹8.32 crore.Construction of CDPO Office Building in Kailashahar – ₹1.42 crore.District Information System for Education Office in Chandipur – ₹3.99 crore.A working women’s hostel at Paitur Bazar in Kailashahar – ₹11.40 crore.A synthetic football field in Chinibagan – ₹5.36 crore.A multipurpose community hall in Deochhara – ₹80 lakh.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 15 other projects, including:A new two-story building for Tilabazar Higher Secondary School – ₹2.48 crore.Infrastructure development at Bhagini Nivedita Higher Secondary Girls’ School – ₹2.48 crore.A 50-bed hostel at Kailashahar District Training Center – ₹5.97 crore.Construction of a commercial shed in front of RGM Hospital – ₹36.68 lakh.Expansion of Kailashahar Municipality Office Building (second floor) – ₹88.10 lakh.15 market stalls at the Fish Market – ₹28.29 lakh.9 market stalls with attached toilets in Panchmogra ADC Village – ₹26.66 lakh.Construction of a sub-health center in Samruchhara – ₹20 lakh.Renovation and beautification of the pond adjacent to RKM College – ₹1.48 crore.An RCC footbridge in Phultali Gram Panchayat – ₹23.50 lakh.A community hall in Singherbil – ₹1.04 crore.A new tehsil office in Tilagaon – ₹30 lakh.Separate tehsil offices in Birchandranagar and Srirampur – ₹60 lakh.Expansion of Chandipur Block Office – ₹1.14 crore.
The event was inaugurated with a welcome speech by Unakoti District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Chakma. Other distinguished guests included Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amolendu Das, TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik, State Waqf Board Chairman Mobassar Ali, and Unakoti Superintendent of Police Kanta Jangir.
Speaking about the inauguration and foundation laying of these development projects, Minister Tinku Roy stated, “This is a historic milestone in the comprehensive development of Unakoti district. These projects will not only improve the overall infrastructure of the district but also enhance the quality of life for the citizens. We are committed to continuing this development momentum.”
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of inclusive development, stating, “The development of the state is not limited to urban areas; equal priority is given to districts and rural regions as well. The implementation of these multi-sectoral projects in Unakoti district proves that the state government is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the common people.”
He further added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised the HIRA model of development in 2018, and the work is progressing rapidly. Under his leadership, the northeastern region has witnessed an unprecedented wave of development in roadways, aviation, and rail services. More advancements are on the way, ensuring modern infrastructure and better facilities for every citizen.”
The state government is working continuously to enhance Unakoti district’s health, education, and infrastructure. The newly announced Drug De-Addiction Center, educational institutions, roads, sports facilities, and working women’s hostels will significantly contribute to the district’s overall growth.
Through these initiatives, it is evident that the government is committed to bringing even the most remote regions into the mainstream of development. Concluding his address, the Chief Minister assured, “We want to bring development to every doorstep.”
The implementation of these projects is expected to directly benefit the residents of Unakoti district and take the region toward a brighter and more prosperous future. The state government’s dedication to inclusive development is clearly reflected in today’s event.
