Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the most significant chapters of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. On this special occasion, the first Amrit Snan held during the Makar Sankranti festival has become a remarkable example of the confluence of devotion and spirituality at Maha Kumbh.
On the occasion of the first Amrit Snan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to the devotees. He said, “Maha Kumbh is the custodian of our ancient heritage and culture. It is not just a religious event but an unparalleled source of mental, physical, and spiritual strength.”
The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every twelve years at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. It is not just a religious gathering but a grand congregation of spirituality. Millions of devotees come here to take the holy dip, which symbolically represents the cleansing of sins and the path to salvation.
On the day of Makar Sankranti, the first Amrit Snan takes place. This day is considered especially auspicious as the Sun enters Capricorn (Kumbh Rashi). At the break of dawn, millions of devotees gather for the holy dip. They believe that bathing at this time purifies the soul and paves the way to heaven.
On the occasion of Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government and local administration have taken special security measures. Adequate drinking water, medical facilities, and a strong police presence have been ensured for the convenience of the devotees. The entire fairground is monitored through drones and CCTV cameras.
