Special Correspondent, Agartala: Northeast India must achieve economic prosperity to realize the goal of building a developed India, stated Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He made this remark today at the North East Bankers’ Conclave held at Hotel Polo Towers in Agartala.
The Home Minister said, “A nation where citizens are dedicated to their duties and economically prosperous is where true peace and happiness prevail. Without ensuring the financial development of all northeastern states, India’s economic progress will not be possible. The dream of a developed India cannot be fulfilled without the economic advancement of its 1.4 billion people.”
Amit Shah further highlighted the significant progress made in the Northeast over the last decade. He pointed out that ten years ago, the region was marked by unrest and insurgency. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, peace has been established in the region over the past decade, with over 9,000 militants surrendering and returning to normal life.
Shri Shah stated, “The Northeast is now becoming the gateway to development. Its immense potential can accelerate the country’s progress.” He expressed optimism that the northeastern states would set new milestones in development.
At the event, he emphasized the importance of banking systems for the financial development of the Northeast. “The expansion of banking services and the advancement of the digital economy will accelerate the region’s economic growth,” he remarked.
It is noteworthy that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the central government has increased investments in various projects in the Northeast. From infrastructure development to road connectivity and tourism promotion, multiple initiatives have been undertaken. According to Shri Shah, these measures will ensure the region’s financial prosperity and lay the foundation for a developed India in the 21st century.
